“MEN AND AGING”

The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford will host Research Day 2007 on March 28. The purpose of Research Day is to provide medical students, faculty and other health professionals with a forum to present their research and to provide a networking opportunity for health professionals from throughout the region. This year’s program features enhancements that will excite and interest many varied audiences. The theme for this year’s Research Day is “Men and Aging.” Dr. Tom Prohaska of UIC’s Center for Research on Health and Aging and the department of community health sciences has agreed to be our keynote speaker.

As is customary, poster presentations from students, faculty and other professionals will be viewed. In addition, Research Day will present two keynote speeches. Dr. Prohaska will be discussing the topic of “Men and Aging” in the planned keynote addresses; the highly technical midday address, targeted toward researchers, faculty and healthcare professionals will focus on research on the subject of men and aging. The evening address, more general in nature, will be targeted toward healthcare professionals and others in the community with an interest in the subject.

Poster abstract submissions will be accepted in the categories of: basic science studies, medical education of students, clinical studies, nursing studies, public health studies, medical education of patients and case studies.

All students, faculty and practicing professionals are invited to participate. Research Day is intended as a forum for medical and graduate students, University faculty and scientists from regional medical and educational institutions to present their research and to learn of recent advances in medically related areas.

The principal presentation formats are posters or seminar presentations. Student poster submissions will be judged and the best posters recognized. The internal focus of Research Day is on the activities of medical, nursing and other graduate-level students. However, submissions by students and faculty from related areas of health-based research and evaluation are also welcome, including basic science, public health, clinical, behavioral and social science research and program activities.
