| Department of Pediatrics
The department of pediatrics serves students in the
M3 and M4 years, as well as residents in the College
of Medicine's Family
Practice Residency program. With nearly 40 faculty
members, medical students receive a thorough and well-rounded
background in the medical care of infants, children
and adolescents.
The department is very active in scholarly, scientific,
educational and service activities. The faculty have
been published in numerous academic and medical journals
and have completed research projects of local, state
and national significance. The department's involvement
in community service is part of a College-wide belief
in the importance of promoting health, wellness and
education in the Rockford area.
The UIC University Women's
and Children's Health Center houses the department's
clinical services. This state-of-the-art ambulatory
facility was specifically designed to meet the needs
of women and their children. Besides serving as an active
general pediatric practice, the center is a major teaching
facility for medical students and residents in the Rockford
program.
