There
are a variety of research opportunities available for students
at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford.
The Office of Research Support assists students in identifying
research possibilities and matching them with interested faculty.

Programs:
- The
James Scholar Program is an academic honors program
for highly qualified students that stresses independent
study and requires a research project. The goals of the
James Scholar Program are to recognize outstanding medical
students, to promote the qualities of intellectual independence,
self-motivation, creativitiy, and scholarship in those students,
and to enable the development of in-depth knowledge in some
area of medicine. This program has special entrance requirements.

- The
Medical Student Research Fund is available to help
with the direct costs of conducting and presenting research
while under the supervision of a University of Illinois-
Rockford faculty member. For application materials, please
